The Mysterious Hero - Chp 3 - side story

"You want me to carry you home? You must have lots of bruises on you." Mysterion suggested with concern for her. Catherine looked and sure enough his guess was right, there was bruises and red marks on her arms and knees.

"Well sure I guess." said Catherine. Mysterion jumped down from the rope and picked Catherine up, Catherine blushed a bit as he picked her up and they started on their way. As Mysterion was walking to Catherine's house Catherine started to cry very quietly.

"What's wrong? Do your cuts hurt?" Mysterion asked with deep concern.

"No, it's not that" she said as she tried to wipe her tears with her sleeve. "it's just that I was so scared tonight, I thought I was gonna die. I mean like, I know they're just stealing money but I was just so scared I probably would've died if I fought back more.
I'm so glad you saved me. Thank you so much" Catherine said as she buried her face in his shirt sobbing.

"To me, all that matters is that you're safe, Catherine" Mysterion said to her but kept looking forward. Then Catherine's ears alerted her.

"How did you know my name? I never told you what it was" Catherine said all shocked. "Do I know you?"

"Maybe you do, maybe you don't."

"Hey that so isn't fair. Who are you?!" Catherine said getting angry.

"Listen, I've been watching over you lately"

"Why me?"

"Because I don't want anything bad to happen to you. I'm ashamed of myself for not coming to save you sooner and now you are wounded in many places of your body. I feel like have failed you in protecting you." Mysterion said with a sad sigh. Catherine was blushing a lot after he said that. But why would Mysterion be watching over her in particular?  

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a sec!" as she jumped out of Mysterion's arms "Why are you watching over me and only me anyway?"

"Because I lov-" Mysterion stopped his sentence and quickly changed it but it wasn't very clever. "just because, okay?"

"No, not 'okay'. You don't have to always protect me. I'm fine, really." Then just right after Catherine said that her legs gave out and she fell to the ground."

"You're fine...really?" he repeated her last sentence with a smirk as he picked her up to carry her again.

"Whatever" she said while she rolled her eyes. He kept on walking with her in arms. Mysterion didn't notice but Catherine gazed up at him and suddenly started to have a fuzzy feeling inside...but why?
